First there were the Romans then the Vikings and after that came the infamous Normans, all of whom took part in traditional Stag weekend activities such as drinking, eating, partying and competing against each other in feats of strength, speed and accuracy.
Things haven't changed much over the years with York still being a favourite destination for marauding stag parties. However, camping in the centre of town is now forbidden, so it is essential to book early before the hotels are full.
