Plenty of shops for the shopaholics For lunch, bag a spot on a terrace and watch the beach action whilst sinking an ice cold San Miguel. And of course, there's the shopping on offer in Benidorm. Think gorgeous leather handbags and shoes at bargain prices, gem-stone jewellery that won't break the bank and a great variety of fashion boutiques. We love the pedestrianised Avenida Martinez Alejos in the Old Town for mooching and the tiny shops in and around Passeig de la Carretera for unique finds.

When night falls, slip on the heels and steer the hen do to Avenue de Mallorca, the Levante beachfront or the Old Town, all long-established as the party hubs of this resort with bars packed to the gills with boys and girls out for a laugh. And from live DJ sets of house and nu-funk to cheesy seventies disco, there's a scene for every music taste.
