UK or Europe? Celebrities highlight UK boom

Having trouble deciding on your stag and hen location? Well the rich and famous are having no trouble.

It may seem surprising yet more and more celebrities are opting for homebound stag or hen weekends every year, proving that the UK has plenty to offer groups looking to book for 2009. Not to disregard Europe, there are hundreds of fantastic stag and hen weekends to choose from abroad, yet interestingly 2006 – 2008 saw some of Britain’s most popular public figures jetting off around Blighty for their pre-nuptial bashes, highlighting the UK as the place to be for stag and hen events.

London has always been the definitive location. In the West End alone, stag and hen groups are spoilt for choice by the multitude of shopping facilities, pulsating nightclubs and incredible historical sites, not to mention the hundreds of amazing tourist attractions. The London Eye, Big Ben and the innumerable theatres and museums are continually pulling in the crowds.

Popstar and X Factor Judge, Cheryl Cole definitely thought so when she celebrated her hen do in the capital, opting to partake of London’s trendiest nightclubs before walking down the aisle in 2006. While the Girls Aloud star selected our nation’s capital to celebrate, husband-to-be Ashley Cole decided on a surprisingly more subdued stag affair by relaxing with a golf course activity upon the gorgeous coastal resort of sunny Marbella.

Taking advantage of Scotland’s largest city, Liverpool footballer, Steven Gerrard held his stag weekend in Glasgow in 2007. Steven lapped up the ferocious Scottish nightlife with a weekend filled with boozing and night clubbing. Notorious for hard drinking and long nights, Glasgow offers any young stag the perfect spot to spend his last night of singledom as well as plenty of incredible action activities to enjoy the next day should he want to shake off that hangover!

Never ones to avoid the worlds press, Wayne and Colleen Rooney did things in true glam style for their stag and hen celebrations. For one of her three hen bashes, Colleen was treated to lunch, dinner and a luxury pampering session before enjoying a game of hen bingo in Manchester. While the WAG relished a day of girly pampering with close friends, Wayne retreated to the ever popular sun-soaked resort of Ibiza where he enjoyed the comforts of a luxurious 5 star villa before partying the night away.

No ordinary boy in reality, British musician Preston opted for his local for his celebrity stag bash, deciding on Sunny Brighton as his preferred location. It’s no wonder really as the Victorian seaside town boasts a massive variety of activities and attractions including a thumping nightlife, electric music scene, pebble beach, Michelin star restaurants along with a host of grand historical sites. Mixing the contemporary with the traditional, Brighton is the quintessential stag and hen location for anyone with a group ranging in ages and tastes. The city has a cosmopolitan laid back feel while harboring a bubbling youthfulness at the same time.

Wherever you decide to go, there are huge benefits to both European and UK stag and hen weekends, yet celebrities are proving that UK cities have just as much to offer as the seemingly more attractive European cities do. It’s testament to the quality of UK attractions and services that despite the hundred’s of thousands of pounds some of these celebrities earn, UK cities have just as much pulling power and are among the most popular, new and exciting stag and hen locations to consider. With the ever-growing surge of fantastic activities coming up across the country, as well as the already varied and vivacious nightlife, UK cities are fast becoming prime locations for stag and hen parties in 2009.
