Edinburgh Hen Weekend

Created at 16:27 on Fri 1st Feb 2008 by Leigh Stringer

The capital of Scotland provides a variety of music, theatre, film, museums, festivals, arts….the list is endless. Edinburgh shines, throughout the world, as one of the most cultural cities Europe has to offer and continues to play an important role in bringing crowds to Scotland, especially hen parties.

If J. K Rowling can find inspiration for her first edition of Harry Potter here, then getting to Edinburgh for a hen weekend, shouldn’t cause too many problems. The city skyline is a sight to behold, with incredible views in every direction. Edinburgh also combines the contemporary with the traditional, which could be why the city dominates other Scottish cities for popularity. The capital is split up into contrasting venues and atmospheres; the restaurants and pubs differ in styles and offer a unique and interesting night out for anyone looking for a diverse Scottish hen experience.

The capital is not just about whisky-drinking men, in tartan quilts, playing bagpipes, while munching on a haggis. This image has been replaced and Edinburgh is now one of the most vibrant, cosmopolitan and modern cities Europe has to offer. It has also become one of the favourite destinations to live.

Edinburgh is a city that can cater for all tastes and preferences, which is why a hen weekend in Scotland’s capital, is perfect for the bride-to-be and her friends. If architecture and scenic views interest you, then consider the stunning Georgian buildings spread across the quaint, pretty streets. However, if a bit of history is the reason you’re considering an Edinburgh hen party, then you can visit the famous city castle or the Victorian houses that stand on most street corners.

These are all fantastic, unique qualities that only Edinburgh holds; but the city is, as mentioned before, a lively, stylish place to enjoy a wild night out.

The beauty of Edinburgh’s social scene is the contrast in venues.  For sophistication and elegance, head to one of the trendy bars that are open till the ‘wee’ hours. But if you want tradition and history from an Edinburgh hen weekend, then soak up some authentic Scottish atmosphere in one of the ancient local watering holes.

You won’t experience a more cultural, diverse and exciting city than Edinburgh. The capital oozes elegance, charm and inspiration…if you avoid the whisky drinking, bagpipe players.
